This work is very entertaining, but it suffers the fact of being of short publication. At first I thought it was echie although it turns out to be a soft romance with comedy and dialogues about art. Personally I do not recommend it for someone who is not used to short stories or conclusive episodes since it has that feeling of slow progression. Something curious is that most of the chapters present a scene in the art room and develop an internal monologue with the female protagonist. The general feeling I was having was "an incomplete modest work" , lack of romance but original andfresh. Maybe it is not for a reader with long manga preferents but the drawing is good enough to forget that it is a short publication. Please give it a try if you are looking for something fresh but short on content.
A libido-fueled art comedy featuring the secret art club activities of a delinquent girl and the boy who will make her his masterpiece. (Source: Kissmanga)
Kumanishi Bijutsubu Rough Sketch-senpai (Manga) 7/8/9/8/8 First things first. My "reviews" system is explained on a blog entry. Which can be found through my profile. ------ ✦Story I went in expecting simply good lewd fanservice with comedy, but once I were done with it. Instead of finding it lewd I found it extremely adorable and wholesome. It had great balance between sexy approach yet extremely heart-warming love story.I enjoyed it. ✦Art Very pleasant Art style, and with the whole modelling fanservice approach with that hot thick girl who discovered surprising fetish she had and at the same time hew own feelings over time, was simply well presented. ✦Character Not much to add aside main female lead being extremely adorable with somewhat kinky side. I did really enjoy seeing her meltdown and reactions. Aside that, rest of characters are also rather oddballs and interesting. Did enjoy them for the most part. ✦Enjoyment & Overall Expected sexy painting sessions. Ended with wholesome experience where ecchi element became simply a cute-fest.
tl;dr: A short and sweet comedy manga focused around an artist and his model. This manga is a comedy focused manga that's really short and sweet. There are twenty-five chapters, but each is usually around 10 pages so it's really not that long at all. That does seem to work pretty well though. The characters are pretty flat, but what they do have personality wise is greatly exaggerated, so they come out as pretty funny. The short chapters also results in things having to move really fast, which results in a brisk pace that I also think works pretty well in terms of quick humor. Though the short structure also results in a plotthat is very minimalist, basically just focusing on Megumi's feelings in response to Eda drawing her and such. Still, with the ending they very much had to rush it due to time constraints and not having it built up at all up to that point, but in terms of characters and relationships it was pretty amazing and a great way to end. The art was a solid, though the framing of Megumi posing and such was what really made it stand out.
First thing to understand is this series unfortunately got axed. The author had three consecutive series running all taking place in the same high school in different magazines if I remember right. They all got axed at roughly the same time. One was about photography , one about calligraphy and then rough sketch. All 3 were viewed favorably least by western readers. The photography one even did a cross over chapter of them going to the other two clubs. It has been a good while since I read it so my memory isn't as detailed of it as I would liked but certainlyworth the read. It is a simplistic but nice story with likeable though small cast in it. The author is also a great artist and shows how truly good they were around the time it was announced it was getting canceled. Possibly as a way to show what is gonna be missed from it being axed. Basically it is a short read and if nothing else the art alone makes it worth it.
