It's normal for girl to get into all boys school in Japan right? This is what the story is about. How she will be able to get along with boys? Will she find a boyfriend and friends? Will her high school be hell or heaven? I really recommend this one if you like shoujo. My overall rating is 10 because I really enjoyed rockin' heaven everything in it...the story, characters and also the art which was absolutely beautiful.
I honestly was just skimming through the internet when I came across one of the covers for "Rockin' Heaven". Seeing how impressive the artwork was on the cover I decided to just give it a short read. In the beginning I had no real intentions of absorbing myself in the book but I honestly just kept reading till I finished the series. There are a lot of good things that come along with this book. It holds a lot of character development, gives space for other character's to share their stories instead of focusing on the main couple, and the artwork is just phenomenal. However . .. I believe the main characters had some complications. The main girl, Sawa is just a bit too perky. She does cry often but she seems a little too optimistic. Of course she's very similar to the typical manga heroine who is perfect in every way but there was a point in the book when I thought she was TOO perfect. Sawa is a complete Mary-Sue but there were definitely times in the book where I kinda forgot about her good nature and focused more on the other characters. Next is Ran, the main guy. The guy definitely has some problems and I feel like he wasn't crazy enough. I mean, he suppose to be suicidal and depressing but it appears like he's simply content. Not saying he doesn't show signs of how uncomfortable he is but I felt I would get more emotions from him. I will say that his character was better than most guys I've seen in other mangas. Finally . . . I really feel like some loops weren't closed in this manga. There were some issues that I kept thinking about till the end of the books. For example like: Why did this person end up with this person? What happened to this character's feelings for this one? What happened to that one guy? Why didn't he express that he loved her? Basically, I feel as if some of the situations didn't find closure in the story line. Being very observant, I kept thinking about each character but in the end it was all done I suppose. Even with the confusion on my part, I ended up loving the side characters more than the main ones! C: kekekekeke
Sawa applies to Heaven's Wing Academy, thinking she would look cute in the uniform. But she never expected the academy to be a previously all-boys' school! And the head honcho of the school, the class president himself doesn't seem to like her one bit and takes no pains to hide it. At first, adjusting to life at the academy is tough. Sawa is bullied and teased, and the boys in the class even throw her new shoes in the water. While attempting to retrieve her shoes, she falls into the water and is unexpectedly saved by Ran, who up until this point has made her life hell. The newfound gentleness in Ran intrigues her, and she finds herself falling for him. What will her days be like for the rest of her school life? Alright Rockin' Heaven review time. Overall I did enjoy this manga, there were times in the story where i just wanted to scream, cry, and sometimes laugh. However It was rather predictable (Though most manga of this genre is) The story was cute overall, but I felt like it was lacking something. Maybe it was the characters, maybe it was the cliches that popped up repeatedly (But again it's shoujo manga so :3) The art was cute, the main characters were all very adorable and I loved how the mangaka changed up Sawa's Hairstyle everyonce in a while. The characters, again, all seemed a little cliche tome. Sawa is the ever so happy main character, Ran the brooding and rude love interest. As for character development i think most of it was done on Sawa's best friend. Sawa stayed the same throughout, and while Ran sorta changed it didn't really happen until the end that he became a new man. Most of the side characters that were part of the main group had their moment to shine however, and that was nice. So while enjoyable I was feeling left a little unsatisfied at the end of this manga, I enjoyed it throughout. But I don't know I was a little disappointed. Maybe I'm tired of the heroin always forgiving the rude main love interest, or maybe it's that there is always people who are in love with the other characters, but in this manga most of them never really try all that hard. Let's just say for me the best part of this story was Sawa's parents love story. Still if you are looking for a general shojo with a happy ending and cliche plot, you've found the one. (( And that wasn't sarcastic either, sometimes a cliche plot is just what you need, no?))
