Meh, Uchi no Maid ga Uzasugiru is a simple slice of life based on the premise of a lolicon crush. Story: 6 The story starts when a maid who likes little girls falls in love with this kid, so she becomes the maid of her house, and now the girl has to live with this maid she despises. From there, the stories and jokes unfold. There is a simple background for the characters so they can be differentiated and to solidify the reasons why they act the way they do. To keep the story's themes varied and not repetitive, the plot relies on introducing new characters, whetherthey are relatives or new friends, since the story isn't driven by new goals or challenges for the protagonist. Only chapter 33, is for me a 8.2 chapter, the best in this manga. Characters: 5 As for the characters, this is where the controversies of the manga lie, since the "heroine", her personality, and her main gag depend entirely on the main character, who is a little girl. The side characters don't have much relevance to the story; they aren't given a past or an origin story. Not that you expect much from a comedy slice of life, but still... Only the main group of 3 characters (the heroine, the main character, and the other maid) are given a bit more background. Art: 6.8 As for the art, it's okay. It's nothing mind-blowing, but at least it doesn't look extremely digital; it has some personality. The author doesn't use—or at least I can't recall them using—those impactful double-page spreads like the ones in Usogui or Kingdom. One thing about the art related to the story is the cover art of the manga volumes... When I saw the last 4 volumes, they sparked some interest in me because it looked like they were going to tell a bigger story, maybe a serious plot or a new arc... but the reality is that the special event they wanted to convey with the volume cover only lasts for a single chapter... kind of disappointing in that regard. Overall: 6 As an anime, it's fine; 12 episodes are more than enough. While lolicon jokes aren't for everyone, "meh", it's something "different"—I don't know if this innovation is for better or for worse, but oh well... However, for this type of story, stretching it into a 10-volume manga makes the plot a bit repetitive and lacking in magic. It's mostly the same jokes, or chapters you just read quickly so you can move on to the next one because the current one just isn't interesting. You have to be somewhat desperate or have completely run out of manga to read (which was my case) to feel the need to read this manga.
After the tragic loss of her mother, Misha Takanashi had all but shut herself away from the world. Her father desperately tried to hire new maids in order to take care of her and the housework while he's busy with his own job, but it was to no avail as she manages to run them out of the position—all of them except one. Before she knows it, Misha finds herself the center of attention of one Kamoi Tsubame, an eccentric ex-JSDF master sergeant who isn't fazed in the slightest by Misha's attempts to drive her away. Enamored by the adorable little girl, Tsubame makes it her personal goal to get Misha to open up her heart to her (and maybe even get her to wear the cute clothes she makes as well.) While her intentions are (mostly) good, Tsubame has a habit of taking things to the extreme when it comes getting closer to Misha, leading to all sorts of crazy situations that exasperate her to no end. Now, the pressure is on as Misha tries to find a way to deal with a maid who's just way too annoying! (Source: Kaiten Books)
