This is a world where killing and torture are legalized. Sero, a part-time worker at a torture company, enjoys torturing people every day with his senior colleague, Siu. With the addition of new part-timers Mike and Hugh, fun torture life continues! The gap between the at-home, easy-going workplace and the gruesome torture is bound to attract a lot of addicts! When I read the synopsis and title, I was a bit skeptical as to what I would expect, since the title had the word torture in it. But I was completely surprised when there is very little graphic torture shown on-screen, and the torture aspect is mostly there as a conversational topic and to give the show a workplace setting to showcase the characters struggles, character development and their workplace professional development, while having a workplace vibe that is supportive and wholesome. If you enjoy watching a slow-paced Slice of Life and Cute Boys Doing Cute Things (CBDCT), this is the show for you. If youare expecting a show with a complex plot, I'd suggest finding a different show to watch as there is not really much of a plot since the show is just the boys at work and any conflicts and struggles tend to be resolved very quickly. I also appreciate how they did a backstory episode for their final episode which also helps to add some depths to some of the characters that we get to know for the past 11 episodes. I loved the character designs, it is the perfect show for people like me who enjoys looking at beautifully drawn male characters on screen and the studio did an amazing job at drawing these characters. I would definitely love to see more of such anime that is focused on wholesome Cute Boys Doing Cute Things moments. (I'm begging MAL, please create a new theme for CBDCT, there should be enough shows at this point for a theme).
If you're looking for a strictly slice-of-life, light-hearted anime with very minimal plot, this is the anime for you. As a SOL enjoyer, this anime has the perfect lack of substantial plot for me. If you're more into heavy-plot driven or action type anime, this probably won't suit you very much. It's a boring anime in the best way possible. There's almost no emotional turmoil within the show and if there is, it is resolved within half an episode. Since it's base media is a 4-koma style manga, a lot of the episodes are compiled of loosely related stories that take place within the plot. Thisis great for anyone who just wants a stress-free episode-by-episode show to watch. I'm already planning on rewatching the entire thing after it finished airing yesterday. In regards to the characters, I did enjoy each of them individually quite a bit. They definitely have their typical tropes, but I loved them nonetheless. Also, if you're worried about the torture aspect of this show, you don't need to worry. Very minimal graphic content, everything happens off-screen. Sorry if that's what you're looking forward to though.
If you're looking for a slice-of-life, mellow, light-hearted anime, oh boy, this anime is definitely for you! If you're more of a SOL anime watcher then I highly recommend this anime. It showcases the boys at work talking about their profession, having random conversations, their struggles, and characters development all in a workplace vibe that's just supportive and wholesome. The show doesn't have much of a plot since it's the boys going through conflicts which are resolved very quickly. If you're looking for something that is the complete opposite of this then I'd suggest finding a show that is well suited to your liking. When it comes tothe torture aspect, it's only the gist of it. Everything is off screen so there are no worries unless you want that then I am sorry. In regards to the characters, I do love and enjoy watching them. They're so quirky and funny and it's amusing on how they talk about the torture aspect again it's in the funniest way possible. Even shows how the business started and why they chose the profession. So if you just want to take a break from the intense anime and want something more laid back and funny then this anime is definitely your go-to. Trust me you'll love it.
" Legalized Torturer " Anime based on a workplace and unique atmosphere are very ultra rare because we usually see isekai , villainess and detective trope in most of seasonal period . Glad that we getting this kind of anime frequently these days just like how we got ruri rocks last season . Many people might think as a thriller and gore because of name so, I advice to drop down expectations because this sh!t hit different , it has a vibe which can only be understood by a certain category of anime watchers . Plot is based on a world where torture is legalized andseen as a profession and a source of income . Our main cast has a torture agency where they interact with each other in hope to overcome their past and present struggles . The thing which I liked most about characters is a urge to improve themselves in terms of daily life activities and overall relationships with each other . They filled their inside emptiness . Designs are cool even some shots are iconic . Backstories are legit and valid , decent bgm etc Overall it's a fun adult themed anime so, watch at your own risk don't let yourselves blur by ratings . I won't mind a another season .
this a slice of life work place anime with a twist it set in a world where torturing criminals for information is completely legal with right licensing of course spiritus as four torturers the veterans Sero and Siu and the part timers Mike and Hugh despite the business the four are in the series as little blood or gore the animation is good so is the art style the voice cast is very good especially Mike voice actor (no English dub) the series could be seen as yaoi but there is no romantic relationships in the series it more of guys doing interestingthings series
