Kunon Gurion is born without sight. Refusing to accept blindness as an unchangeable fate, he devotes himself to water magic. His series of personal experiments quickly reveals his talents, as Kunon's grasp of magic grows at a pace that surpasses even those tasked with teaching him. Through constant trial and invention, he develops methods of perceiving the world that do not rely on ordinary vision, reshaping water into constructs that allow him to navigate his surroundings. His ingenuity and rapid progress soon draw attention beyond his lessons, setting him on a path of discovery that tests the very limits of possibility—as well as of his own body. This anime was like pulling teeth, sure it might seem like a good idea but it gets worse and worse as it goes on and then at end you just get this painful mess. The concept for this series was a good one, it had strong potential, and in the first few episodes you could actually see that potential, it just obviously fails to live up to and deliver on it, there are a myriad of reasons for that, and don't worry I will get into that. What we do have is a series where the MC goes from being able to do nothing to very quicklybeing able to do everything and is also very obnoxious at the same time. One of the biggest issues I have is that nothing really happens, the initial episodes Kunon has a clear goal, something he seeks to work towards, after that it kind of drifts away he's distracted by the joys of magic and seeking to get better at magic. There is no conflict that happens, even just between characters, any conflict that may exist is quickly resolved, so that 'hook' of wondering 'what is going to happen next?' just isn't there. There is also no struggle, question of will he actually achieve set goal or task, because we never see Kunon struggle or fail or have to put in hard effort, everything instead comes easily for him and it's constantly reinforced how wonderful and great he is, how talented and amazing he is, there is no question that he could fail at anything. As such the actual contents of each episode is relatively meaningless as nothing really happens in them, time passes and occasionally it remembers that wait he actually had a goal he wanted to work toward so lets use this episode to focus on it so we can get back to forgetting all about it in every other episode. Even Slice of Life and the Slow-Life series have either conflict between characters or a struggle that has to be overcome, there is always some kind of hook that makes you want to keep watching, this is the basics and for this to fail on those basics is not good. Another issue is the 'comedy' which doesn't work half the time and just ends up with Kunon coming across as annoying and obnoxious, and as the series progresses the act either wears thin or he gets even more obnoxious, but part of the issue may be that early on Iko his maid helps balance things out and that then becomes less. The one thing that would have helped this series, it's potential strength that became one of its weaknesses, was Kunon's blindness. Clearly the author has never encountered someone who is blind before and has no idea of how blindness affects people especially those who are born blind, because the representation isn't just way off, it's insulting. I don't think the author understands disability in the slightest because they were quick to drop all limitations at the earliest convivence which shows they don't know how to write a disabled character. This was the hook of the series and it was quickly ditched, the fact that Kunon very early on was able to overcome all limitations and was effectively able to see even if not physically able to see eliminated all reason for him to create magical eyes for himself very early on, it also meant he had no difficulties at all, there were no struggles to overcome, this was an act of self-sabotage that put the series on a doom spiral. It would have been easy to attach limitations which would have shown a still ever present struggle and made his goal very much still at the forefront And this may be a nit-pick but the magic system doesn't really make much sense, or rather it is poorly explained and as such it raises a lot of questions for me. Over all this is a badly written series and I'm glad it is over so I can be done with it, the only reason I haven't given this a lower score is that the first few episodes did have a certain something to them that kept me watching, Iko also kept me watching, but this just wound up being a big disappointment, a whole load of nothing, and it felt like a chore to get through. I normally like these types of magic fantasy anime, it's rare that I find myself strongly disliking such a series, yet this achieved that.

"Kunon the Sorcerer Can See" is a weird anime with a lot of odd characters, a very different kind of story, and plenty of obscure moments—but does that actually make it good? In short: it depends. In long: it really depends on what you look for in an anime, especially whether uniqueness alone is enough to keep you interested. Getting into it, the biggest issue is how the show handles Kunon’s blindness. After about 6 episodes, it basically stops mattering. It ends up feeling more like a cosmetic trait than an actual disability. It’s like if a paralyzed character could use magic to move again and the storynever treats that as something with limitations or consequences. Because of that, the core premise loses its weight. His blindness barely affects him at the start, and once he starts using magic to “see,” it becomes almost completely irrelevant. The characters don’t help much either. A lot of them are weird, but not in a way that actually makes them interesting. They have quirky traits or strange personalities, but there’s very little depth behind them. Most of them feel one-note once you get past the surface. The ending is easily one of the weakest parts. It’s clearly meant to act as a cliffhanger for a second season, but it doesn’t feel like a proper stopping point at all. It just kind of ends wherever it can, rather than where it should. Because of that, it feels abrupt and unsatisfying, and it honestly drags down the overall experience quite a bit. That said, the show isn’t without its positives. It’s very easy to watch, and there weren’t many episodes where I didn’t get at least some enjoyment out of it. Kunon’s “gentleman” behavior (which is basically him being a bit of a womanizer) can be pretty entertaining. It’s not something you see often, so it stands out a bit, and while the humor isn’t amazing, it’s usually good enough to land. The story itself is also pretty creative. It doesn’t follow the usual fantasy anime formula, which helps it stand out in a crowded seasonal lineup. Even if you don’t end up liking it, at least it’s doing something different instead of blending in with everything else. Overall, I’d say this is a solid watch for the season, but definitely not for everyone. Its uniqueness is both its biggest strength and its biggest weakness. 7/10
Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru starts with a genuinely good idea: a blind boy who uses water magic as his own sensory system, with a precision and depth no generalist mage can match. That premise has real weight. The problem is the anime treats it as a launching pad and then builds something far more generic on top. The first half is a slice-of-life romance with decent rhythm. The second half, once the magic academy arrives, drops almost everything it had built before — shelves the more interesting characters, abandons the relationship dynamics — and falls into standard power fantasy: new place, better than everyone, wins everyoneover, done. Conflicts resolve in one episode or less. Episode 12 literally starts and ends in the same place. Worth it if you watch week to week with low expectations and a free Sunday. If you pick it up to binge looking for substance, you'll probably drop it halfway. 6/10
the bird brain emptyheadedness of the mc is appealing up til the end. the magic is nothing near cool or nice to watch just subparness we're all supposed to pretend is great in that universe. the character is as deep as a dry springroll sheet. cannot understand who was supposed to be the audience for this show. subpar and brainwashed upbringing due to a maid raising him is easily fixable but the author wants to pretend that's the charm. I watched out of spite, hoping someone slaps some sense into that greasy child but alas here we are. the highest rating it should get is3.
The show starts off decently, however it soon devolves into a fairly bland story about a mage who can't see, who overcomes this in like the couple episodes, but also at the same time somehow doesn't and spends half the series learning how to see, even though it appears that he's been able to see since like episode 2 or 3 or so. The show tends to get worse as the episodes go on, getting rather ridiculous in episode 12 where he suddenly starts hitting on every female and basically ignoring all guys - which is something that wasn't really touched on until this moment.Overall, the story is your typical trope of "MC is stupidly overpowered for no apparent reason" anime. Don't bother.
