Prince Lloyd de Saloum—once a commoner who could never grasp magic—is now blessed with inexhaustible mana and has all the time in the world to master it, as he has no claim to the throne. After mastering demonic magic, he sets his sights on the Church to learn the secrets of divine magic that will bring him one step closer to completing his arsenal. However, due to his fondness for unholy magic, he draws the scrutiny of divine beings who see him as little more than a demonic spawn. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

This season did not really have the same feel as S1 and was overall disappointing for me. Rather than having several "short and sweet" arcs like S1, this season focused on just a single arc which was very drawn out and concluded with an unsatisfying and extremely generic villain. That might have been alright if he was defeated quickly but it was very slow paced - the whole thing could have been condensed into three or four episodes. The main focus of the arc was a mostly unimaginative religious sect (a thinly veiled caricature of Christianity). Lloyd learning the holy magic seemed to be his onlycharacter development. Holy magic in itself is very generic compared to what was showcased in S1 (such as Qi and object enchantment). The main point of the first season, featuring Lloyd's experiences learning and trying out new magic, seemed to be lost after the first two episodes or so, as he had already pretty much mastered the holy magic. The arc introduced too many uninteresting and similarly generic side characters, who competed for the spotlight, and Lloyd got comparatively little development or screen time. A lot of the new characters are poorly designed, some looked too similar to each other. Jihriel is annoying and ugly, and competed with Grim for screen time. The climax featured too much of Escher's extremely repetitive singing, it majorly detracted from the viewing experience and made me want to skip ahead. Large parts of the plot were devoted to villains that were seemingly introduced for no reason other than filler, like the pig guy and the black dragon. These villains had no interactions with Lloyd. Overall Lloyd, spent too much time completely separated from the other characters. This season very much reminds me of Isekai Maou S2, which I feel got derailed for similar reasons. The best parts were early on in the season when they went on that little underground side-quest. The mini-boss (Civil War) was one of the more interesting villains. The humour was similar to S1 and I think it benefited from comic relief, though those moments were too infrequent. Grim got a small amount of character development towards the end.

I'd be lying if I said I preferred this over Season 1. While I do think this season was fun and interesting, the things that I loved about Season 1 weren't here, and I feel that impacted how I viewed this season. Majority of this season was of the side characters, which I actually do like and care about but I feel it was a *little* too much. The latter half of this season was barely focused on our MC until the end (which tbh I expected). Animation as always is good though, so I have no complaints on that front. Maybe I'll pick upthe manga as I don't have high hopes we'll get a season 3 but who knows (I was surprised it even got a s2 lol).
7th Prince is back at it again Very much like Season 1 this understands its mission perfectly, it has a huge respect for the source material down to the gags, references and derpy animations, it's visual gags are straight from the manga, and considering many studios just don't bother with such things and do the bare minimum and are happy to churn out an average generic series, this really helps 7th Prince stand out. Very much in keeping with the first season this season is just a lot of fun, it is focused on being as tight as possible with its comedy, the dialogue and the visualgags, they all land. It should also be noted that budget on this is high, the visuals are impressive, the animation is very high quality, fight scenes are very well done, and even the 'money shots' where they are looking to show off their talents outside of a fight scene just hit home the high standards of this series. It is worth praising these production values because they do so often drop off when you get to the second season, but I think they have actually improved here (I can't say for certain without going back and watching season 1 and doing a close comparison) Season 2 strikes a different tone to Season 1, with S1 was very much Lloyd having fun with magic and a series of events just coming along and happening to him while he is essentially having fun with his experiments, S2 still sees him carefree, having fun and enjoying his experiments, but the difference is the plotline is based around one event that takes the bulk of the series to deal with. It is also the case that we are introduced to a bunch of new characters this season, and at times Lloyd ends up taking a bit of a backseat while other characters take centre stage, for some people this may be a negative but I didn't mind this as I felt they got the balance right and it allowed the characters to be developed. If I ever have a negative with it, then it's that I could have done with more Sylpha, as I could always do with more Sylpha. This is a great comedy, it is great fun, it is extremely well made, and if you enjoyed Season 1, you will more than likely enjoy Season 2
A good season 2, that does change a bit the way the show goes on, but imho it is done pretty good. While first season had the focus on demons a lot and on the MC going on about his life and different adventures learning magic and showing us how OP he is, meeting new people along the way, this season switches it up a bit and goes more in depth into a few of the side characters and bring the main focus on them a lot more. Also, the main enemies now are from the church. The story still holds in terms of comedy, delivering itin a very good way that doesn't feel weird, and which also makes the scenes that would normally be pretty boring for someone that already knows a lot of the tropes really enjoyable. Ngl, the comedy and timing of it makes this anime special in my eyes. There's a single arc that continues and builds up episode by episode, culminating in a pretty good fight. While the story might not be one of the most complex ones, it is still a pretty decent story. The side characters that were introduced in season one also get more spotlight, while the MC is taking a bit of a step back and letting them shine more. We do get a few new side characters that are adding to the story quite a few new elements, especially to comedy, but also to ideas. The new villains/enemies do have some pretty solid/funny backstories, or at least some do, which caught me off guard and made me interested in them enough to tolerate having a few being presented one after another. This doesn't happen often to me ngl. One thing I would note though that started to annoy me is the singing... at one point it became a bit too much... I would like to also note the fact that the ending of season 2 shows a few new characters, which usually means there's going to be a new season 3 coming. Story: 9 -- One arc that builds up quite nicely over the episodes and delivers Art: 9 -- As always, this anime has stunning art, especially at important times. Music: 8 -- Pretty good, besides that singing that became annoying very fast... Characters: 9 -- Glad to see a bit more focus on side characters, but still see the MC being op and cool. Enjoyment: 9 -- Enjoyed this second season as well, maybe a bit less than season 1. Overall: 9 Right now it has 7.66 from 45.557 votes Ranked #1468 Popularity #2167 Members 110,807 as of 20/10/2025. Highly recommend it to people that watched season one, as it continues on the same tonality, with a bit of a shift in focus on other elements, but at its core it is still the same as season one: a fun and enjoyable watch.
Whatever anyone says that it had shota or the future characters are going towards shotafication let me tell you one thing, " DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS SHOTAFICATION". The story buildup, music, animation are all uppar of any can do with the backstory fits perfectly to each character and developement in its own way which is in gradually required in any Anime. This story is going in a most best manner as one could think of like the beauty to tell the story is an art too right. Shifting from season 1 to season 2 the leap which it takes make the most difference whetherthe release after such a break it can build up the hype or not. I love it and one thing for LLoyd we do love overpowered characters but only some SHOTA which suits this my boy best.
