Itai no Itai no Tondeike

I can’t let this MV go unreviewed. Man, this MV deserves more attention and love. I think a lot of the reason most MVs go unnoticed is that they often lack a clear story or narrative, but this one is definitely an exception. Itai no Itai no Tondeike is, at its core, a tragic story of abandonment and revenge, told in an extremely creative way. The screen is split in two. The right side visualizes her dreams and what she wishes reality could be, while the left side shows her actual reality and the true events unfolding. This is one of those videos with so many little detailsthat you notice with every single rewatch, all of which add to the atmosphere and enrich the overall story. This video presents recurring themes of deep pain and a longing for escape, feelings that most people have likely experienced at least once in their lives. Oh, and lastly, this MV is a prequel to Jouzai/Tablet, the MV for the 4th ending of Chainsaw Man, and it pushes the characters’ story forward in a fascinating direction. The only reason I do not rate this even higher is that I tend to have very high standards for MVs. Visually, it could have looked a lot better, but I still enjoyed the art, and many shots were executed really well. Overall, I would give this MV a 6.5/10.
