In a world full of discrimination and hatred, stereotype is no longer what it really is. The braves believe that only when the evil is defeated, will the world comes with peace. Yet the braves realize that they are not standing on the side of justice. (Source: TMDB)

Brave Series is technically nothing new or interesting. Stories that are based on classic Fantasy RPG tropes are as old as the RPGs themselves, and they continue to be an oversaturated genre. Even Dragon Quest-like shows pop up. Subversion on the Good Race = Humans, Evil Race = Demons is so clichΓ© you should be groaning when hearing it. Childish shows having awfully dark and brutal themes is nothing new. Some people might get a kick out of how little the show emphasizes its horrible brutality, but that's a satire common with the subversion. CGI shows that look exceptionally well are also out there, especially with the simplistic Children'sTV style that this series has. Protagonist whose defining characteristic is being an ass is and always was a trope that pops up regularly. A band of misfits aren't anything new to explore. Mind-blowingly spectacular animation, especially in fight scenes, is remarkable, but most won't stand out in a sea of sakuga. And beautiful direction isn't special, it's just desired. Web-comics with a cult-following getting amazing anime adaptations also keep cropping up every year, including ones outside of Japan. There's a ton of fun anime in Chinese, too. It's absolutely exactly what it sounds like, and it's as generic as the title suggests. There's nothing special about BAS. Even the actual stories of each character are simple tropes told again and again. It is a simple show. And it's absolutely amazing. As unremarkable as all of it may be, it still manages to have its own charms and pulls off what it's trying to do excellently. It does little and it does it the best out of anything of its niches. In this, it is truly one of a kind. It's clearly a labor of love, and so much wonderful creativity has been poured into this simple show that it is consistently a great watch. It's funny, it's fun, it's pretty, it's crafted carefully and it goes all out at all times. If even a single trope listed interests you, or you liked shows like One Punch Man or Adventure Time, try this show out. It's officially released free with ENG subtitles on YouTube by PTS Plus, the Taiwanese broadcast station.
I actually found this ONA by chance and it was a tremendous surprise. 6 chapters rich in a very complete plot, full of adventure and reflection. I thought it was another children's show with an RPG theme, but I keep my mouth shut. It's totally PG13. The CGI animation, similar to The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, is well-cared for. Here, you'll see that the characters have different expressions. There's a great variety in the designs, of course, especially in the key characters, but even the background ones won't feel generic. In the scenarios, in each battle, you'll see the consequences of the fights anda static background. On YouTube, the anime is complete. The channel where they broadcast it can be watched without any problem. It has a wide variety of subtitles, and if you like it, they're already releasing the episodes of the second season.
βDon't Think Act Now Β°7.5Β° Β°VGΒ° π―%π some minor spoilers What a pleasant surprise. π ±rave is a 2021 πΉπΌTaiwanese release that was adapted from a Taiwanese comic series. It is 1 season consisting of a mere 6 24-minute Mandarin speaking episodes with English subtitles. It takes a page from Prime's The Boys, in that these heroes ain't always heroic. It also borrows heavily from Chinese fantasy templates in that there are different races (human, demon, Heavenly realm), but special powers aside, they are just like humans and the issue is racism. If the issue is racism, thenthe issue is, in reality, pride. Our hero realizes early in the show that he is an operative for an institution that no longer adheres to its own principles. It's rotted from within. Other heroes are not protecting the citizens: They are beating up on defenseless beings merely to increase XP. He stops merely going through the motions and thinks... Then he quickly reaches the point where he can't go with the flow anymore. No more πππ. The show is actually pretty rough, but it ends up quite heartwarmingl. π ± is drawn in simplified CGI. The colors are bold and often dark. The look of it is fresh and original. People are drawn crudely with simple lines. Backgrounds are minimalist but often lovely. I think the choice to go with simplicity is to reinforce the concept that these issues are simple. It isn't that it's difficult to figure out what the right thing to do is. It's, rather, that doing the right thing is almost always the hard option, and it usually puts us at odds with the crowd. Overall, the message is positive. π ± is absolutely worth the small time investment. There's bonus material after the black and white credits so fast forward to the end.
