A donghua based on the novel of the same name written by Jiu Lu Fei Xiang. The story revolves around the relationship between Xiao Lanhua, a low-ranking flower fairy, and the powerful "Moon Supreme" Dongfang Qingcang. After being locked away for thousands of years, Xiao Lanhua mistakenly revives Dongfang Qingcang. The two of them become connected as a result, with the powerful and stoic Moon Supreme forced to experience everything she does, both physical and emotional.

Are you looking for a cute romance anime? Thatās how I started when I stumbled upon this gem. If youāre interested in a fast-paced fantasy anime with cool magical fighting scenes and a hint of romance then this oneās for you. Story 9/10 The setting is the ancient, magical realm of Chinese folklore. Iām not Chinese so this is how it came across to me. The story started strong with the main character (Orchid) already coincidentally meeting the villain-protagonist of the show (The Demon Lord) on the first episode. Since each episode is only 15 minutes long, every episode is packed with progress andwould want you to watch the next episode right away. It also delicately showed the beauty of Chinese folklore so if youāre a person interested in a countryās culture, then this one is for you. Characters 7.5/10 I wouldnāt say they were perfect especially Orchidāshe might be a little too loud and annoying for you BUT that added to the comedic relief you will see in the entire show. There were a lot of other really strong characters you will see with depth so youād definitely enjoy seeing them being played out in the anime. Graphics 10/10 I canāt take my eyes off the scenes where they do spells and the other magical stuff, because it was so beautiful! Very characteristic of Chinese animes. The backgrounds change into elaborate patterns whenever a character shows their power! I love it a lot. You hardly see anything like this in Japanese anime! This is definitely my favorite element in the whole entire show. Overall 9/10 I would recommend it to people who want to watch something to pass the time and just enjoy. Nothing too cerebral about this show and that makes it enjoyable to watch when you want to relax and see a good anime. Also, it makes me want to learn a little bit of Chinese because it sounded fascinating. I suggest you give this anime a try ā„ļø Also, thereās a Chinese live action for it so if youāre interested, just check Love Between Fairy and Devil on Kissasian. Iām currently watching it and I keep on squealing at the romantic scenes š³āŗļøš
This donghua was solidly entertaining, though I canāt really pinpoint why. Itās a fun watch and not too serious. Serious things sometimes happen in the show, but a lot of them just seem to roll right off the characters. They werenāt taking it that seriously, so I couldnāt either. The female lead, for instance. Even as sheās in some really dire situations, she somehow still has the energy to bicker with the male lead. Itās kind of hilarious, but also, I canāt actually feel scared for her when sheās acting like that. Maybe sheās too dumb to bescared? Still, I didnāt mind her. Sheās not the brightest, but her heartās in the right place. The male lead⦠I canāt figure out what his deal is, but I donāt mind him either. There is a well-loved Cdrama (live action) that shares this title and some characters, but the story is very different. Therefore whether you like the Cdrama or not is independent of whether you like the anime. I personally did not care for the Cdrama at all, but I solidly enjoyed the animated version. In fact, I think itās because I already watched the Cdrama that I had such a high tolerance for the female lead being a bit useless. I wouldnāt say Iām in love with these characters, or with the plot, nor do they make me feel deeply. In fact, with the characters being so cavalier about serious things sometimes, my brain might have not been fully on. But something about this show was just addicting and enjoyable to watch. So this show might be more of a 7 on merit, but Iāll give it a +1 bump just for enjoyment factor.
