Greetings, I hope you're feeling well if not I hope you get better. Today I will be discussing The Japanese song Yellow by Yoh Kamiyama. I kin and love this song. 10 out of 10 https://ewsiseclipse.wordpress.com/ helped me with this review You should watch the music video Trigger Warning: This article contains sensitive content that may be upsetting for some viewers. (Child Abuse :( ) Yes, this is a sad song but I will listen to this song on repeat for 8 hours that's how amazing it is to me. Introduction The song Yellow was released in 2019 by the Japanese artist 神山羊 Yoh Kamiyama. The official music video included many profoundvisuals and symbols that alluded to the possible topic of child abuse I don't know if it's official. The artist of this song has purposefully made the symbols, images, and lyrics to the song and music video somewhat vague, which sparked many debates online about the possible meaning behind the song. Perhaps Yoh Kamiyama wanted to leave that mystifying touch to his song and allow the audience to come up with their own theories. The Symbols Within the Song If you have seen this music video then did you see that demon-looking thing? If you have do you see where I'm going? The horned demon inside the music video represents the boy’s parents. the lower half represents the boy’s mother because the demon is seen wearing high heels. It is possible that Yoh chose to depict the boy’s parents as a demon to signify malevolence and to emphasize that they are the abusers. The Closet Did you see the closet? The boy in the music video can sometimes be seen in the closet. The closet is considered his temporary “safe” place. It is a means for him to hide from his parents and temporarily escape the abuse. The Color Yellow "Yellow" is the title, Do you like the color yellow? Throughout the song and the music video, the boy has brought up the color yellow many times. The color yellow symbolizes danger and caution. He says, “I still remember that scenery I saw out the window. The ‘yellow’ that is better off disappearing.” The color yellow is the light from his parent’s car when they return home from work. When his parents are home, that is when the abuse towards the boy begins. For this reason, the boy is constantly hoping that his parents would disappear so that the torment towards him ends. The Chains At the end of the music video, the boy’s hands and ankles are in chains. This symbolizes the trauma as a result of child abuse. Despite that, the memories of his past will always remind him that he is a victim of his parent’s abuse, and that will always haunt him. “Don’t abandon me, for I’m just a foolish child” “Skinning away that precious memory But if you regret this ‘low-life’ Shall a summer with a hopeless wish come” “I still remember that scenery I saw out the window The ‘yellow’ that is better off to disappear” Thank you for reading!
