Mikiya Kokutou gives Shiki Ryougi a cat to watch, as he will be away for a little while. Though Shiki protests, he leaves the cat anyway, and Shiki is stuck trying to understand her new feline companion. But as luck would have it, the cat seems to have taken a liking to Mikiya and misses him. Later in another part of the city, Ririsu Miyazuki visits the place where her dear friend committed suicide. She intends to end her life as well, but she meets Fujino Asagami, a blind classmate with a traumatic past. Though the two girls don't have much in common, Asagami reminds Miyazuki of her lost friend and helps her understand her pain. Two months later, Mikiya elects to celebrate New Year's with Shiki instead of his family, which makes his sister Azaka very upset, leading to her spending the holiday with her school friends. As the snow begins to fall, Mikiya reflects on what he wishes for most of all: that Shiki's life be filled with happiness. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Although I've heard Extra Chorus was intended to be watched before Mirai Fukuin, watching it afterwards was a much better decision. The story is fairly simple. Chapters 1 and 3 of this special deal with Mikiya and Shiki, with Chapter 1 being fairly inconsequential to watch, and Chapter 3 being, at least from what I believe, an unintentional but beautiful ending to the series proper. Chapter 2 deals with a new character, and the return of Asagami Fujino, which is very nice. Chapter 2 allows Fujino and her friend to develop very well in reaction to events from the previous movies and what they believe innow. The art is, as per usual, really nice. The use of CG works very well, and there's nothing outside of the ordinary, just a very simple, solid presentation of animation by ufotable, and a very nice ending frame. The sound... well, there's not too much in terms of sound design to notice. As for the composition, Yuki Kajiura and Kalafina are purely wonderful in their use of vocals that accentuate the mood and characters of scenes, especially the ending. Now you've probably noticed I've said the word ending multiple times, and that's because this OVA is worth watching just for that. It really is the absolute final conclusion of the series, albeit some might consider it redundant. I personally think, because of its connection to the beginning in music, it closes the loop once and for all.
Another prologue. Tactless handling of themes of suicide, trauma, etc. as always in this series. This movie is 3 filler side stories shoved together, the least filler of which has nothing to do with the other 2. The cat side story is just pointless audience bait that goes nowhere beyond being used as another goddamn addition to the MC's harem of characters immediately falling in love with him because this series is just a shitty harem builder poorly mashed into murder mystery-nonmysteries. There's nothing of value in this movie beyond rehashing the same Shiki x MC shallow romance-nonromance. This series would've been better off watched inchronological order instead of jumping back into the middle for more prologues after already seeing the end. 1/10 (where 5/10 is average)
